Cboe BZX Files 19b-4 for Fidelity’s Solana ETF

Cboe BZX Exchange has officially filed form 19b-4 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a new Solana exchange-traded fund. The filing adds Fidelity’s proposed Solana (SOL) ETF to the growing list of altcoin-related applications before the U.S. securities watchdog. With form 19b-4, Cboe is seeking SEC approval of a proposed rule change to list and trade shares of the Fidelity Solana Fund. Fidelity Investments joins Canary Capital, Franklin Templeton, Grayscale, and VanEck in seeking regulatory approval for spot Solana ETFs from the SEC. The filing comes just a day after Fidelity’s announcement.

Fidelity Files for Spot Solana ETF on Cboe Exchange

Fidelity Investments has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to create an exchange-traded fund (ETF) tracking the price of Solana (SOL) on the Cboe Exchange. The $5 trillion Wall Street veteran registered a Fidelity Solana Fund in Delaware last Thursday and uploaded a 19b-4 filing for the ETF. Solana is currently the sixth-largest crypto asset by market capitalization, with several asset managers having filed applications with the SEC to launch funds holding the token. Last week, two ETFs tracking SOL futures hit the market.

Cboe Seeks SEC Approval for Fidelity’s Spot Solana ETF

The race to launch the first US spot Solana exchange-traded fund (ETF) is heating up. Cboe BZX Exchange has requested SEC approval to list Fidelity’s proposed Solana ETF. This comes after a similar filing for a Solana ETF sponsored by Franklin Templeton on March 12. Multiple asset managers, including Grayscale, VanEck, 21Shares, Canary, and Bitwise, have also submitted applications for Solana-based investment products. Meanwhile, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange introduced Solana futures contracts, further indicating institutional demand.
